David Egans

Class of 2002

David Egans is a successful entrepreneur, husband, and community leader based in Los Angeles. A native of Inglewood, California, he played for the Xavier University of Louisiana Gold Rush basketball team, graduating in 2002. He later returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach from 2006 to 2009, sharpening his leadership and mentoring skills. David went on to build a thriving business, founding an income tax company with more than 20 locations nationwide. Alongside his wife Rickia, he co-founded Daisy’s House, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting foster and probation youth through housing, life skills, and case management services. His journey reflects the Xavier values of service, resilience, and entrepreneurship.

Rickia Egans (Hamilton)

Rickia Egans is an educator, entrepreneur, wife, and mother who has devoted her career to uplifting students and families. A proud graduate of Castlemont High School in Oakland, California, she brought her talents to Xavier University of Louisiana, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2005. She began her career as a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District before transitioning into her current role as an Instructional Coach, training and mentoring teachers to improve classroom instruction and student achievement. She also founded Bright Minds Education Consultants, specializing in early literacy strategies, and co-founded Daisy’s House, a nonprofit supporting foster and probation youth. Rickia’s work embodies Xavier’s mission of service, leadership, and lifelong learning.

Dr. Patrice Hawkins, PharmD, MBA

Class of 2010

Dr. Patrice Hawkins is a pharmacist, entrepreneur, and former student-athlete whose career blends healthcare expertise with leadership and service. Originally from Tuscumbia, Alabama, she played for the Xavier University of Louisiana Gold Nuggets women’s basketball team from 2004 to 2008 and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2010. In 2018, she completed her MBA at Trevecca Nazarene University. With over a decade of experience in long-term care pharmacy, Patrice holds licenses in six states and has led initiatives in training, integration, and healthcare operations. She now continues to expand her professional footprint through Dr. Hawkeye, LLC, a platform for new ventures that reflect her entrepreneurial vision and commitment to impact. Patrice represents Xavier’s tradition of excellence, discipline, and service.
